Common Current is built on the principle that everyone has skills, time, or resources that can benefit the community. Whether you have professional expertise, practical knowledge, spare time, or just enthusiasm, there's a place for you in our community.

Below are several ways you can get involved. You can choose one or combine multiple ways of contributing based on your interests and availability.

Volunteer Your Time

Contribute a few hours each month to help build and sustain our community resource center.

Current Needs:

  • Hour Exchange Coordinators - Help introduce new members to the time banking system
  • Event Organizers - Assist with planning and running community workshops
  • Administrative Support - Help with emails, record-keeping, and general organization
  • Outreach Volunteers - Represent Common Current at community events

Time commitment: 2-10 hours per month, flexible scheduling

Share Your Skills

Everyone has valuable knowledge or abilities that can benefit others in our community.

Ways to Share:

  • Lead a Workshop - Teach a practical skill in a small group setting

  • Repair Café Volunteer - Help fix broken items at our community repair events

Contribute physical items that our community can share and benefit from collectively.

Resource Needs:

  • Tools - Hand tools, power tools, gardening equipment in good condition
  • Workshop Equipment - Crafting supplies, sewing machines, art materials
  • Event Supplies - Folding chairs, tables, canopies for community gatherings
  • Technical Equipment - Laptops, projectors, audio equipment for workshops

Note: We currently have limited storage space, but we are working on our tool library storage system.
